It’s that time of the year when many of us start looking ahead to the new season. It’s not here just yet, but autumn is fast approaching, and it’s always accompanied by a back-to-school mentality that inspires us to rethink our routines, or opt for a new look. Zendaya is getting ahead of the game, having refreshed her hair color this week.

Opting for a slightly darker hue – courtesy of Los Angeles-based colorist Sarah Shears – than the auburn-brunette that has become her signature, Zendaya channeled the mocha chocolate hair trend that was wildly popular among celebrities in 2021.

Blow-dried to flick out at the ends, her side-parted bob was full of body and texture, with an undone finish. Think of this as the ultimate cool-girl style, especially when paired with a simple white tee and jeans.

Going darker during the cooler months is always a popular choice. A sun-kissed balayage look doesn’t appear quite so natural when the mornings are frosty, and opting for richer, deeper shades can complement the season’s warmer wardrobe palette, too. Ultimately, it’s based on your preference.
