Just over a year ago, I took a big step in my acne journey by deciding to start Accutane. For anyone who has struggled with acne or chronic breakouts, Isotretinoin—more commonly known as Accutane—is a somewhat daunting term on account of the drugs array of side effects and severely drying effect on the skin. But, having tried literally everything else, I decided to take the leap, and a year later my skin is the best it has ever been.

Though I luckily don’t struggle with breakouts anymore, I have had trouble getting my skin back to a radiant, hydrated state due to the fact that the months of Accutane left me very dry and sensitive. It’s safe to say that I’ve tried my fair share of moisturizers in my post-Accutane journey, but this super-charged, enriched cream saved the day when it came to my dry skin.

What it is:

Shielded Beauty’s Self Defense Super-Charged Moisturizer ($48) is a dream cream for skin that is craving hydration. This luxurious, purifying moisturizer deeply penetrates the skin to simultaneously nourish, rejuvenate and re-energize tired, parched skin. Not only does this naturally derived, citrus-scented, restorative formula provide a natural finish and all day defense from external aggressors, it also replenishes the skin’s microbiome to reveal an instantly more radiant-looking complexion.

Shielded Beauty’s Self Defense moisturizer is enriched with tons of essential nutrients and antioxidants, in addition to the brand’s patent-pending Guardian Complex™, that helps to protect the skin from harmful factors like blue light and airborne aggressors, so not only are you providing your skin with some much needed moisture, you’re also protecting it all day long.

How to use it:

You can use Shielded Beauty’s hero product moisturizer in both the morning and at night after cleansing (I do!). After cleansing, simply apply 1-2 pumps of product onto the fingers, and warm the product between the palms before applying to the whole face, neck and décolletage in a gentle, upward motion for super-charged hydration and instant radiance.

Price/where to buy:

$48, shieldedbeauty.com. What to try out the magic of super-charged hydration for no cost? Snag this week’s Free Gift Friday offering before they’re gone!
