Our favorite Hollywood A-listers and social media influencers are no strangers to flaunting their new haircuts or hair colors online. But when you see something you like that you want to recreate at home, where do you start? The usual plan of action is to bring an inspiration image to your stylist and hope they can work their magic. Most of the time they can, but it helps to have the exact breakdown that was used.
“Save this for your next hair appointment,” Hannah Brown wrote on Instagram for her 2.7 million followers. The Bachelorette star shared the exact breakdown for her new darker brown hair color and haircut from her Nashville-based hairstylist and colorist, Marwa Bashir. Other clients Bashir works with include Maren Morris, Kristin Cavallari and Lily Aldridge.
The Hair Color Formula
First: “Fine hair highlights and horizontal placement on the top of the head—Mohawk section—with R+Co Creme Lightener +20 Volume. Tip out ends left out with R+Co Creme Lightener +30 Volume and leave in open air.” Next, she says to “pull out foils at shampoo bowl and use the leftover 20 volume lightener to brighten the ends of the hair line and top of the head.”
A hair gloss is almost always used during this type of color treatment, and Bashir opted for the popular Redken products. “Allover gloss is Redken shades EQ 9nb, 8wg and 9v. Root shadow gloss is Redken shades EQ 7n, 7nb and 7m. Process for eight minutes and then rinse. Gloss all over with R+Co 9.03 and clear for shine.”
The Haircut Details
Once the hair color was processed, Bashir also gave Brown a new haircut. “Face-frame layering from the bottom of the ear only. Grown out curtain fringe starting at the top of the lip. Blended layers in the crown to connect the fringe. Long layers everywhere.” Brown posted the below Instagram story, saying, “I still need to work on styling my own hair, but I love this new cut and fresh color.”
