If you tuned into the MTV VMAs red carpet as soon as it started in hopes of getting an early glimpse of Taylor Swift‘s look, you were probably sorely disappointed when she didn’t show up until the last minute. But surely all was forgiven when you saw her look — one that seems like it might be rife with clues for her fans.

Swift wore an asymmetrical black gown with metallic accents and layers of necklaces, and Swifties are surely wondering if these elements are intentionally reminiscent of Reputation. Could that album be the next in line for a Taylor’s Version rerecording?

Before anyone could ponder it too deeply, Swift was already winning a VMA for best pop video, “Anti-Hero,” and being handed the trophy by a suddenly reunited *Nsync. Before thanking her fans, Swift spent the first few moments of accepting her first moon man of the night doing what all of us wanted to do: grilling the guys about what their VMAs reunion really means. But while we didn’t get an answer about Justin Timberlake et al, we did get to see the most magical and unexpected element of her beauty look — her hair — from more angles.
