On Saturday, January 21, Selena Gomez was spotted in new York City holding hands with The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart. It has been rumored that the pair are dating, but Gomez recently insisted she was single in an Instagram Story. This was allegedly their second date this week; after going bowling on Tuesday, they spent the weekend night out at Torrisi Bar & Restaurant in Soho for a romantic dinner.
In her declarative Story, Gomez shared a black-and-white photo of a cloudy sky, writing over it, “I like being alone too much,” along with the hashtag “#iamsingle.”
The post followed a report from Us Weekly that the new couple were “trying to hide their romance by sneaking around at members only clubs,” according to a source.
Things are supposedly “very casual and low-key” and they have been going “bowling and to the movies.”
The insider added, “Selena can hardly keep her hands off him” and that they are “having a lot of fun together.”
For their night out on Saturday, Gomez wore an all-black look with a turtleneck and oversized coat, with her hair up in a ponytail. Taggart was also dressed comfortable in a hoodie under a bomber jacket, and loose jeans with white butterfly patches the knees.
Gomez has been officially single for some time, while Taggart recently broke up with EDM musician Eve Jobs, the daughter of the late Steve Jobs. He was also romantically linked to Meredith Mickelson, Haley Rowe, and Chantel Jeffries.
In December, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Gomez was open to dating, saying, “Selena is feeling positive and optimistic. She is open to dating.”
The pop star has said in the past that her longest relationship with fellow musician Justin Bieber took some time to recover from. The former couple dated off-and-on from 2011 to 2018, and he has since married model Hailey Bieber.
“Everything was so public,” she said. “I felt haunted by a past relationship that no one wanted to let go of. Then I just moved past it, and I wasn’t afraid anymore. I feel like I had to go through the worst possible heartbreak ever and then just forgetting everything at the drop of the hand, it was really confusing. But I just think that needed to happen and ultimately it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”
She added, “It’s about more than a lost love. It’s me learning to choose myself, to choose life, but also hoping that people can find grace and peace in that too. The song is about knowing that you completely lost every part of who you are just to rediscover yourself again.”
