Happy 10th Birthday to Prince George!

Ahead of the future prince of England’s big day tomorrow, Kensington Palace has released a new portrait of the young prince, which was captured earlier this month in Windsor earlier this month by photographer Millie Pilkington.

In the picture, the eldest child of Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, grins widely while sitting on stone steps and resting his arms on his legs. He wears a blue-and-white checkered shirt with teal trousers, navy socks, and brown shoes.

The past year has been a momentous one for Prince George, who is now second in line to the British throne following the passing of Queen Elizabeth, and served as a page of honor during his grandfather King Charles III’s coronation. The young royal has also accompanied his parents on several royal engagements, including notable appearances at Trooping the Colour and Wimbledon.

While Princess Kate has stepped in as a photographer for her children’s birthday portraits in previous years, all three of the Wales kids’ birthday photos this year were captured by Pilkington. For Charlotte’s eighth birthday portrait, released last May, the young princess showed off a toothy grin while sitting on a white rattan chair, dressed a white ruffled blouse embroidered with tiny blue and pink flowers.

Meanwhile, Kate stepped in front of the camera for Louis’s fifth birthday photos, as she pushed her cheerful youngest son around a Windsor garden as he sat in a wheelbarrow. The young prince wore a cozy blue sweater with a red and beige argyle decoration and blue shorts for the portraits, while Kate, who was shown slightly out of focus, wore a white-and-black striped sweater.
