preview for Meghan Markle on the red carpet in Proenza Schouler

On Thursday, November 16, Meghan Markle attended the Variety‘s Power of Women event and shared some of her plans for the holiday with E! News while on the red carpet. The Duchess of Sussex has some traditions with her husband Prince Harry and their two children, four-year-old Archie and two-year-old Lilibet. As the kids get older, their celebrations evolve.

“We’re creating new ones now that our little ones are growing up,” Meghan explained. “And we’re enjoying every moment of it.”

But she added that she has her own favorite ceremonies, admitting, “I love trimming and decorating the tree with my children.”

The Duchess was awarded by the Power of Women event in 2022, but did not attend last year as the event was held just weeks after the passing of Queen Elizabeth. At this year’s event, she wore a beige midi dress with an asymmetrical off-the-shoulder neckline by Proenza Schouler. She carried a black clutch and wore a pair of Aquazzura heels.

Reporters also asked Meghan about her work with Prince Harry in the entertainment space, and she replied that they were focusing on “positive content” and that the Duke was “loving it too.”

“Things that make people feel, I was going to say good, but it’s more than that,” she said. “Things that make people feel something. And feel a sense of community. We have so many exciting things on the slate…I can’t wait until we can announce them. Just really proud of what we’re creating.”

The honorees this year at the Power of Women event included Fantasia Barrino, Billie Eilish, Lily Gladstone, and Carey Mulligan. Margot Robbie, her husband Tom Ackerley, and their colleague Josey McNamara were awarded the Producer of the Year award. Prince Harry was not in attendance.
