After a very eventful night at the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, stars headed to exclusive after-parties, where fans awaited what their second look of the night would be. Barbie actress Margot Robbie did not disappoint. The blonde bombshell changed into a sparkling black version of the custom hot pink Giorgio Armani gown she wore to the ceremony, complete with the tulle boa and a black clutch. Like the original Barbie-pink gown, Robbie’s little LBD featured a deep V-neckline.
During her Barbie press tour, Robbie wore a number of looks directly inspired by different Barbie dolls, so it did not come as a surprise when she arrived at the Golden Globes dressed as another one. That look was based off of the 1977 Superstar Barbie, in particular.
At the award ceremony, Barbie took home a Globe for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. In her acceptance speech, Robbie, who co-produced the film, said, “I would like to dedicate this to every single person on the planet who dressed up and went to the greatest place on earth: the movie theaters.”
“Thank you, and thank you to everybody. All the Barbies and Kens in front of and behind the screens,” director Greta Gerwig added. “It was the greatest, most joyful show of craftsmanship and passion I’ve ever seen.”
Singers Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas also won Best Original Song – Motion Picture for “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie soundtrack.
“It was exactly a year ago, almost, that we were shown the movie and I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time,” Eilish shared in her speech. “Writing that song kind of saved me a little bit. A year later and here we are, and it’s really surreal. I feel incredibly, incredibly lucky and grateful.”
