Just when we thought Jenna Ortega‘s grunge aesthetic had given us all there was to give, she hit us with a new haircut with a couple of inches off the back and a whole lot of shag infused throughout. Say so long to Ortega’s lengthy hair and Wednesday Addams’s noteworthy braided crown because on Friday, December 16, the actor debuted a wolf cut that’s cheeky, short, and very auburn

Ortega’s fresh cut came with lots of movement within its layers, while her fringe was the one feature that hairstylist David Stanwell kept consistent. Sometimes, a change of length will spark a new attitude from the person wearing it. But for Ortega, the change simply heightened her intriguing aesthetic.

Stanwell began the styling process on wet hair with two products to achieve Ortega’s lightly curled and blow-dried look. In a press release shared with Allure, he mentions using the Authentic Beauty Concept Amplify Mousse and the brand’s Beachy Texture Spray before blow-drying her strands. “I then used a curling iron randomly throughout the hair — very roughly creating bends the way I wanted the hair to move.”

Once the hot tools did their part, he sprayed the Authentic Beauty Concept Airy Texture Spray to “blast the hair around.” Her wolf cut’s tousled look was finished off with the Authentic Beauty Concept Styling Cream and the brand’s Solid Pomade. Stanwell mentions that the last two products he used kept that piecey, effortless look and ensured the style would hold throughout the night.
