UK influencer Millie Taylforth has taken to social media to share her not-so-stellar experience with a cosmetic procedure gone bad, and the recap will have you doing your beauty research.
As reported on by the New York Post, Taylforth shared the very detailed account of “lifting her entire face” via threadlifts in a video entitled “How I Almost Lost My Nose From Cosmetic Surgery.”
As Taylforth explained, she went to a cosmetic studio on Harley Street, which she described as “the most famous cosmetic surgery street in London” with the intent to get a “fox-eye lift.”
Admittedly, she also added she “did not do hours of research” prior before spending approximately $27,000 on the combo procedures.
“I like to call it being spontaneous…others would call it being dumb, stupid and irresponsible,” she said, adding that she “went all in,” deciding to not only have a “fox-eye lift,” but opting to also get threads to the nose and around the section of the mouth and cheeks once she got in the chair.
When describing the “threadlift nose job,” Taylforth says—despite having a high pain tolerance—the experience was “traumatic.”
“The pain that I felt…it was different. I would rather have gotten a [surgical] nose job.”
“I left the clinic and could not believe how I looked,” she said. The end result, Taylforth recalls, was that her nose “rejected it” and she was able to squeeze her nose and pop out the threads, from which she still has a scar. “My nose was not healing whatsoever, and I had a dot on the end of it. It was red and inflamed and it kept getting worse…every time I felt my nose, it felt like something was sticking out of it…it kept getting worse…my nose was rejecting the surgery.”
“Despite the buzz about thread lifts, this procedure remains a ‘buyer beware’ situation,” Eugene, OR plastic surgeon Mark Jewell, MD warns. “Threadlifts sound appealing because they are non-invasive and can be performed in the clinic. There is very little outcome data to support the effectiveness of thread lifts and certainly may reports of poor outcomes and infections, as mentioned here.”
Dr. Jewell adds that, while threadlift procedures attract many practitioners who promote this as an alternative to surgery, “the potential for poor outcomes and infection is much greater with threadlifts performed in a clinic, where the level of procedural sterility is below a surgical operating room.”
