It only took a couple hours after news broke of Irina Shayk and Tom Brady showing PDA and having a weekend sleepover for sources to speak out to TMZ about Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bündchen’s feelings about the situation. Despite some sources claiming Bündchen was “not happy” about Shayk and Brady’s romance, other sources close to Bündchen made it clear that she is absolutely fine with it.

One source put it bluntly: “Why wouldn’t she be happy for Tom? She divorced him. It is helpful to her freedom that he moved on.” Brady debuted his romance the same weekend as Bündchen’s 43rd birthday, which she celebrated on July 20.

Back in March, Bündchen spoke to to Vanity Fair about why she divorced Brady, her husband of 13 years, in October.

Marriages aren’t broken overnight, she started: “That takes years to happen.”

And they drifted apart, she explained: “Sometimes you grow together; sometimes you grow apart. When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together. As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person. It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a dance. It’s a balance.”

“When you love someone, you don’t put them in a jail and say, ‘You have to live this life,’” she continued. “You set them free to be who they are, and if you want to fly the same direction, then that’s amazing.”

Bündchen called the end of their marriage “the death of my dream. It’s tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could, you know?”

Still, she said that they remain united, even as they move forward separately. “We’re not playing against each other. We are a team, and that’s beautiful. I look back and I have no regrets. I loved every bit of it.”
