It probably comes as no surprise that Chuck and Gena Norris are very fitness-focused (yes, the whole family is into martial arts). But the dynamic duo also takes their wellness ways very seriously. From coconut oil skin-care secrets to dessert indulgences, we recently chatted with the couple, who shared a look at how “life on the ranch” plays out for them and why, these days, relaxation takes priority.
What are some things you both enjoy sharing when it comes to wellness?
“We share so many wellness practices and we try to weave them throughout our day—things like taking a walk on our ranch, meditation and prayer, and working out together. Healthy aging is one of our shared priorities, so we’ve developed daily rhythms for nourishing our bodies well and staying active.
To us, wellness consists of many components such as time with loved ones, because personal well-being includes cultivating healthy relationships. Our children are also devoted martial artists so it’s nice that they get to experience that with their father. We believe that a family that trains together stays together. We also try to get a regular workout on our Total Gym because it is such an effective form of exercise.
One of our favorite shared passions that people often overlook is giving back to the community. We started Kickstart Kids, which is truly a fantastic organization that teaches martial arts and character development to students. We’ve reached more than 100,000 kids and the breakthroughs that we’ve seen mean the world to us.
Equipping folks to perform and feel their best is also really important, and it’s one of the reasons why we started Roundhouse Provisions, which features a powerful lineup of daily supplements that have helped energize and strengthen us both. We start every day now drinking Morning Kick to stay energized because the key ingredient is Ashwagandha. Both of us have noticed that it helps sustain our energy levels throughout the day.”
What do you do to unwind?
“Some of our most relaxing moments are spent outside—being outdoors on the ranch keeps us grounded and rested. We value being active in nature together and the benefits for mind and body. Recently, swimming has been an activity that blends relaxation and fitness for us—we love that it’s a low-impact and refreshing way to fit in some movement. Over the years, we’ve really come to value the importance of relaxation. We try to find a good balance between being busy and resting because you can only pack a powerful punch in life if you also take the time to recharge!”
Are there any skin-care items you both use or any items you really love in the self-care space?
“Yes! We’ve loved finding products that make a difference for both of us. We like using Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil on our skin—it’s not only a great natural nourishing moisturizer if applied directly, but it can also help in muscle recovery after exercise and helps soothe the skin after too much sun exposure.
For us, self-care also means listening to our bodies and fueling them appropriately. Daily supplements are some of our essential self-care items. Gut health has become very important to us both, so we use Gut Strike to support digestion, and we also take Three Hit Combo to activate the AMPK enzymes that help fuel our bodies. It’s empowering to help manage our health, and we’re feeling better than ever.”
Fitness and training are a big part of your lives. Is there any “indulgence” you have that might surprise people?
“We enjoy our healthy lifestyle, so nothing really feels like an indulgence, but coffee is definitely a favorite staple at the Norris ranch! Also, we generally try not to eat later than 6 p.m. because we’ve found that habit helps us wake up the next morning feeling energized, but occasionally we’ll bend that rule and enjoy an evening dessert.”
