Each year, Pinterest rolls out their data-rooted predictions of what will trend big the following year. And for the last three years, more than 80 percent of their predictions were correct!

From hair hues to new bar orders, here’s what we’ll see as we head into 2023.

Two-Toned Color

Move over lived-in hair tones. 2023 will be all about two-toned locks, or as Pinterest calls it, Gemini Hair. Powered by Gen Z and Millenials, this hair color trend “mixes natural hues with bright blues, purples and pinks.” Searches for “brown to pink balayage” and “pink and lavender hair” are trending now, each seeing a 280% and 345% increase in searches, respectively.

All Short Everything

Long, wind-blown strands and even longer Instagram-worthy nails are taking a backseat in 2023. According to Pinterest, all things “micro” will be taking center stage. Searches for “chopped bob haircut” have seen a 550% increase, “micro French nails” are up 235% and “micro bangs” are up 110%.

Scalp Care Stays

Scalp care isn’t going anywhere in 2023. In fact, we’re doubling down on caring for our crowns. “‘Skinification,’ or a focus on the scalp and crown of your head, will be a priority this year,” Pinterest predicts. Searches from Gen X and Boomers show an uptick in care for the scalp, like “scalp treatment for dry scalp,” up 70%, and “clean scalp,” up 55%.

Long and Lean

In terms of wellness, exercises and stretches focusing on posture and undoing damage done by years of sitting in front of a computer will trend big. Searches for “neck hump exercises” have risen by a whopping 210%, along with “mobility stretches” (+140%), “knee mobility exercises” (+135%) and “primal movement” (+120%).

Zero Proof

From lower ABV drinks to high-end mocktails, sober curiosity is bleeding into 2023 with a force. Led by Gen X, the year will see a demand for “fancy nonalcoholic drinks” (+220%), mocktail bars (+75%) and, of course, “creative cocktail presentation” (+555%).
