23 Best Target Skin-Care Brands 2022: Hero Cosmetics, Versed, Mele, The Ordinary

Must read

There’s a reason it’s nearly impossible to check out at Target with just one item in your cart; the retailer has got it all — clothing, home goods, and, of course, beauty products. Though we may be biased, one of our favorite categories to shop at Target is skin care. Not only does the retailer stock many affordable options around the $20-or-under mark, but the sheer variety of options you’ll find on shelves is pretty staggering. In the mood to explore Korean beauty? What about eco-friendly skin-care options or drugstore staples? Whatever it is you’re looking for, Target has you covered.

Some of the best Target skin-care brands include Cetaphil and Olay, tried-and-true drugstore favorites that have been around for decades and yet still make the viral rounds on TikTok, Instagram, etc. (That’s real staying power, baby.) Another notable offering is French pharmacy stalwart La Roche-Posay, which not only makes some of the best sunscreens in the biz, but also tackles a range of skin-care concerns with its effective, science-backed formulas. Did we mention La Roche-Posay has taken home countless Best of Beauty Awards over the years? (In fact, Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser just earned the honor this year in our sensitive skin category.)

Beyond the variety of household names under its mantle, Target also carries several newer brands — like “clean” beauty brands Versed (an editor favorite) and Stryke Club, the acne-fighting skin-care brand targeted at teens. You’ll even find some items at luxury price points from brands like Obagi and Peter Thomas Roth for those who have a little extra coin to invest into their skin-care routine. And we absolutely can’t forget all of the buzzy Ulta Beauty at Target brands we now have access to, like Peach & Lily and The Ordinary.

Next time you’re making a Target run, we highly recommend that you consult this list of the best skin-care brands available on its shelves.

    Byoma

Established in 2020, Byoma is a relatively new addition to the skin-care world. The brand is known for its accessible and affordable products—each of which features vibrant, playful packaging that’s stylish enough to leave out on your bathroom counter or makeup vanity.

While you can’t go wrong with any of Byoma’s products, we especially love the Creamy Jelly Cleanser ($12; pictured here). This 2022 Best of Beauty Award winner boasts a ceramide-enriched formula that transforms from a gel to a cream upon contact with water. Complete your skin-care routine by snapping up the brand’s Balancing Face MistHydrating Serum, and Moisturizing Rich Cream — all of which clock in at under $19 apiece.

  • Hero Cosmetics

Hero Cosmetics launched in 2017 with just one product: the now-iconic Mighty Patch. Fast-forward five-plus years later, and this Best of Beauty-winning hydrocolloid pimple patch remains just as famous. However, if you’re looking for a thinner, less conspicuous version for daytime wear, check out the Invisible+ pictured here.

The brand has since launched additional variations of the Best of Beauty-winning staple. In fact, earlier this year, Hero Cosmetics debuted the Mighty Patch Face. The latest launch is a favorite of Allure contributor Angela Trakoshis, who previously wrote that she was “thoroughly impressed with the gunk-absorbing powers of these stickers.”

In addition to the beloved pimple patches, Hero Cosmetics offers a slew of other skin- and body-care essentials, including sunscreens, serums, cleansers, moisturizers, scrubs, balms, and toners. Best of all? Most — if not all — of the products are under $30.

  • Naturium

Ever since its inception in 2019, Naturium has been adored by Allure editors for its science-backed skin-care products. When establishing Naturium, beauty content creator-turned-brand founder Susan Yara previously told Allure there was a gap in the market when it came to finding quality skin-care products complete with elegant packaging at an accessible price point.

Today, Naturium remains incredibly popular — especially on TikTok, where products like the Phyto Glow Lip Balm (which features a nourishing formula to keep lips moisturized and soft) and The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Hydrating Body Wash (pictured here; boasts an oil-to-gel formula that’s packed with over 50 percent glycerin) have gone viral.

  • Hey Humans

Co-founded by Jada Pinkett-Smith in 2021, Hey Humans is one of many celebrity beauty brands to hit shelves in recent years; however, it’s also one of the very few companies that use almost no plastics. (Hey Humans is 99 percent plastic-free.)

The brand’s body washes, lotions, and aluminum-free deodorants feature gentle formulations that are free of parabens and phthalates, which NYC-based, board-certified dermatologist Michele Green, M.Dpreviously described as chemicals that could potentially irritate folks with sensitive skin.

Additionally, Hey Human products are spiked with nourishing ingredients such as moisturizing jojoba seed and coconut oils, anti-inflammatory vitamin E, and vitamin-packed shea butter, which acts as an emollient. The products’ nature-inspired scents — our favorites include lavender vanilla, coconut mint, and cucumber kiwi — are added bonuses.
